Fat Bubble: Fat In Film
Welcome to the Fat Bubble; I’m so glad you’re here to immerse yourself in fat joy, fat celebration and fat affirmation.
Sometimes, in response to these emails, I get replies from people who have found the newsletter helpful or resonant. It’s a really wonderful feeling, every time, as my sole wish for this newsletter is that it provides something useful and meaningful, rather than just taking up space in your precious inbox. And I received a couple last week that expressed solidarity with the heavy feeling I shared, and a gratitude for the light and enjoyable subject matter that was the delightful Montserrat Caballé. I’m so glad! For another week, I thought we would enjoy staying in a lighter realm, so read on for a new IG account for your follows...
Today, I want to signpost you to another account that recognises and champions the wonderful talent and beauty of fat people, and that’s a favourite IG account, Fat In Film. Every now and again, a post will pop up on my feed, reminding me of the enormous breadth and range of fat talent. Representation matters, access and opportunity MATTER, and I love the opportunity to acknowledge fat performance. Do go and check them out, give them a follow, and enjoy scrolling through the archive!
(Two fave actors of mine, who I’ve even submitted to be featured, are Pote (Hemky Madera) and King George (Ryan O’Nan) from Queen of the South. Wonderfully rich and multi-faceted characters who are allowed full lives and aren’t reduced to caricatures – playful and protective, ruthless and gentle, I love them! Now, if anyone else is a fan and wants to get in my inbox with some shared QOTS appreciation, I’m all for it!!)
Until next week, friends, wishing you safety and joy.
Vicky
